Farm Description:
Seabreeze Organic Farm has been growing for it's coastal communtiy since 1988. We produce an amazing range of diverse products from arugual to zinnias. We grow fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers and poultry on about 2 acres and feed over 100 families every week. Our on-line store offers sustainable products such as heart healthy coconut oil, books, and natural clothing products. We are located between La Jolla and Del Mar in San Diego overlooking Torrey Pines State Park and the Pacific Ocean.
Practices:
ORGANIC means: No chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, preservatives or waxes. We compost massive amounts of biomass and chicken litter for soil enrichment and fertilizers. We do not use steer manure because of the saline content and the possible use of chemicals and growth hormones in their feed. We do not use genetically altered plants or seeds. We concentrate on using open-pollinated and heirloom variety seeds.
We practice intensive alternative farming methods such as crop rotation, raised beds, row covers, biological and natural insect controls, night patrol for pest detection, earthworms and drip irrigation. Our rate of growth is slower as no chemical fertilizers are used. Our healthy and living soil produces nutritious and flavorful vegetables.
