Farm Description:
A 13 acre certified organic market garden begun in 1991 growing 50 plus varieties of vegetables for direct marketing. We also have used from the founding of the farm high tunnels, and today have 16,000 square feet covered in 6 buildings. We also grow more than an acre of strawberries as well as smaller amounts of raspberries and plums.
Practices:
We base our land use on rotations of crops with time and crops grown to feed the land to build organic matter as well as feed the soil food web. Land is kept covered as much as possible if not with crops, then with green manures. We make extensive use of high tunnels, growing in them as we do outside, just a little longer and more intensively.
Describe your product specialties and highlights:
We grow such a wide variety of vegetables and salad greens at any one time and with successive plantings it is mind boggling to even think of listing them all. At last count more than 50 varieties of veggies.
Where we sell our products:
In the sothern interior of British Columbia, Canada at the Vernon farmers market, nearby in Armstrong as well as at the farm.
