Farm Description:
My farm has been in my family since the late 1800's and has always been a working farm. The farm is 180 acres and we grow 40 acres of conventional walnuts, and 2 acres of non-certified organic vegetables. This farm has lots of potential that we are just now starting to rediscover. The dream is to bring the entire farm back into full production like in the day of my great grand father.

Practices:
We follow sustainalble agricultural practices that includes using lots of compost, cover cropping, the addition of natural fertilizer products like fish emulsion and oyster shell lime, and planting of hedgerows to encourage beneficial insect habitat. We start all of our own seedilings in our passive solar greenhouse and use crop rotation to boost fertility and supress disease and insects. One of most recent projects has been to increase habitat for natural predators of both insects and rodents. To achieve this we are planting the hedgerows mentioned above and building owl boxes and hawk perches near our fields. Working, watching, and listening to nature is our guide.
