Posted January 13, 2004: With the announcement December 21,
that 248 municipalities in the northern Italian region
of Piedmont have declared themselves GMO-free zones,
a total of 1,806 Italian communities have now banned
genetically modified products.
The recent additions are part of an on-going campaign
by the provincial branch of the Italian farmer’s
association Coliretti in Turin, the province’s
