In Japan, two weeks finds two more BSE confirmations

TOKYO, Japan, April 8, 2005: The mad cows just keep on coming for Japan’s embattled beef industry. Officials from the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry have confirmed Japan’s 17th case of BSE. The announcement came less than two weeks after the 16th case was discovered. All confirmed cases have come from cows born before the ban on meat-and-bone meal in feed was established in 2001.
