| French organic wheat threatened by lack of consumer interest |

| Posted August 19, 2005: Organic farmers in France are facing a rarity among organic farmers in Europe: too much crop, too little demand. According to the country’s wheat producers a plentiful crop is expected for the one percent farming organically yet demand remains stagnant. While organic options have taken off in other parts of Europe the French have been slow to warm to the concept and dropping conventional prices have not helped the transition. Now the real concern for supporters of organic agriculture is that now that organic prices are on par with conventional farmers will start transitioning back to their old ways. For more go to:
