November 2, 2004: Omaha’s Farm Credit Services of America
has ended a buyout bid by Rabobank. The possible purchase
by the Netherlands-based financial conglomerate came
under criticism from farmers and farm groups in the
U.S. who feared the sale would signify that end of the
Farm Credit Services. FCS is a 100-year old government
sponsored financial institution which specializes in
lending to farmers and farm-based enterprises. Read
