Posted May 25, 2005: Interest in sustainable agriculture has
grown to such a level at Oregon State University its
Organic Growers Club decided to get some serious information
on the next step from big time Sustainable Ag programs.
To do this the group organized its first Organic/Ecological
Agriculture Summit for several western state universities
that have programs in sustainable agriculture, inviting
such heavy hitters as UC-Davis, UC-Santa Cruz and the
University of Oregon. The group hopes it can learn from
these schools--many of whom took similar beginnings,
a student farm run by those with an interest in sustainable
agricultural principles, and turned them into a full-fledged
sustainable agriculture program.
