July 28, 2005, as reported
by the Washington Post: A 12-year-old cow that died during
labor complication is suspected of having mad cow disease the Department
of Agriculture confirmed yesterday. The USDA was quick to assure
the animal “poses no threat to the human food supply.”
While, initial tests have indicated the presence of the disease,
a sample of the brain tissue will also be sent to England for further
testing.
